If you haven't decided yet whether you want to pick up a book, sometimes the best thing to have to help with that decision is an excerpt, just so you have a little taste of what to expect.

Head on over now to the official Phantom Squadron site (http://phantomsquadronofficial.weebly.com) and click on the two new pages. One of these, "Excerpts," gives you the briefest taste of each of the books.

Why are we promoting this? Because there's a previously-unseen snippet there! An excerpt from the next Phantom Squadron novel, Infernal Eighteen, is posted at the bottom of this page, a dangerous scene in which Alanna Sharpe meets one of her ancestors, Ursus Sharpe.

Oh, I mentioned two new pages. The other one is "About Phantom Squadron," a message from author Don A. Martinez talking about the inspirations and ideas behind the writing of the series. It's a unique look inside an author's mind, so it's worth your time to check out.

Keep looking, too ... there'll be more updates soon!

Well, now you can, and you don't need to be creative!

Click on the brand to the left. It'll take you to the new Ask Blog for the Hidden-In-Plain-Sight Ranch, the place where Kitty and Cyrus Salem hide supernaturals fleeing from the New Empire in The Insurgent's Journal. We've worked out the bugs in the blog, so now it's ready for the viewing public.

Go to the site, push the "Ask the HIPS Ranch anything" button, and send off your question. It'll be answered by one of four Ranch residents: Kitty Salem, Cyrus Salem, Michika Salem, or Alanna Sharpe. And yes, it can literally be about anything: check out the sample questions that have been posted thus far, which ask things ranging from the flavor of bison, to dating preferences, to the age-old debate over robots vs. dinosaurs.

Also, keep a keen eye on the answers the Ranch residents give ... they contain hidden messages, which correspond to characters or incidents in The Insurgent's Journal and the other Phantom Squadron books.

Get your questions in now, and be sure to check out The Insurgent's Journal currently in print, Kindle, and Nook formats!
