As those who have read Dinetah Dragon can attest, August 26th is Ariel Vibria's birthday. In other words, Ariel turned 32 three days ago. To celebrate this, DCP is offering you, the readers, the gift!
The Phantom Squadron series (The Advance Guard, Dinetah Dragon, and The Insurgent's Journal) is now permanently priced at 99 cents each for E-book editions (Nook, Kindle, and Smashwords). When the next books in the series are released, they will also be priced at this steep discount, beginning with next year's release of Infernal Eighteen. If you haven't yet checked out Phantom Squadron ... the contemporary fantasy series that emphasizes honor, love, family, and loyalty ... do yourself a favor and get the whole series for less than three bucks! That's right, folks! It's that time of year again, time to shake off the Thanksgiving turkey coma and get out there to start your Christmas shopping. What better gift to give than the gift of reading? Or specifically, the gift of DCP reads?
To celebrate Black Friday, we're running a Black Friday special on all of our titles, for this entire week only. Now through next Sunday, you can get deals on print and digital copies of An Unlikely Arrangement, Scent of Double Deception, or the Phantom Squadron series. Don't wait to recover from your yearly tryptophan overdose: get your gifts NOW! Desert Coyote Productions is instituting a new pricing policy for digital books.
Starting next week, all titles available as e-books ... including our latest, Scent of Double Deception ... will now be available at the lower price of $4.99 per download. This includes all e-books offered for Amazon Kindle and B&N Nook (soon to be B&N Tablet). Keep an eye out at this space, too, for Black Friday specials on our products. Also, remember that for the month of November, the Phantom Squadron series is reduced in price through the DCP site. (See the previous DCP News posting for details) Well, the weekend came and went, and DCP made its first appearance at a festival with the Texas Book Festival in Austin. (I would have made this post sooner, but I had further business in Austin and just came back last night!)
I'd like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who stopped by our shared book with White Bird Publications. Also those who took some of our giveaways (flyers, business cards, bookmarks), and those who entered into our drawing. After the close of the Festival on Sunday we drew the winners: one winner each will receive a copy of one of our books (The Advance Guard, Dinétah Dragon, An Unlikely Arrangement, or Scent of Double Deception). Keep an eye out in your e-mail or your phone if you entered! If you aren't one of the lucky four winners, you still have a chance. Right now on Goodreads, you have five days left to enter a drawing for one of six signed copies of Scent of Double Deception! Enter now through the widgets all around the website. Also, keep a lookout for some special pricing deals forthcoming. DCP will be doing its own Black Friday sale: watch here for more details. SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT: While at the festival, we had the privilege of having a number of folks stop by inquiring about having us publish their books. We also had one person who was promoting their own e-book, who we all took a liking to. Author H. E. Hinze, very mature for a 17-year-old, was doing her first Book Fair as well, circulating through the crowd to pass out brochures. We took some, and I'm happy to report that when I came back I found Ms. Hinze is now a DCP Twitter follower! So check out her e-book No Angels, a YA paranormal fantasy novel, which is available on Kindle (and soon, from what she told us, in paperback as well), and also the No Angels blog. Thanks for stopping by and seeing us in Austin! It's been a momentous few weeks since the last post here. During this time, some changes have occurred, hopefully for the better. You may have noticed that some of the wordings around the site have changed: this has something to do with the upcoming changes. I'll be keeping you posted in this space, but the very complexion of Desert Coyote Productions will be making a major shift in the next month or so.
In the meantime, head over to Goodreads and check out our new giveaway. Now through July 4th, enter to win one of three signed copies of The Advance Guard, version 2.0. Also while you're travelling the interwebs, be sure to check out digital editions of all of DCP's books, now available through three outlets (Goodreads, Kindle, and Barnes & Noble), all for an affordable price. Also, there's new merchandise available at the Zazzle store: check out the Dragon's Voice doodle speaker, or if you prefer additions to your wardrobe the Sonny Lauzanne Experiment T-shirt. What's the most you could lose? Just a little bit of time while you're being enthralled by the books. Keep your eyes on this space, though, for major DCP changes. As of today, there's exactly 13 days remaining in DCP's Blue Star Drive. Unfortunately, there has been next to zero movement on our total, as we're still at $35 going to the Disabled American Veterans.
The time for niceties has passed. If you read this blog, you know this drive has been going on since March. I've even had a blog comment applauding our efforts to help vets. The problem is, nobody wants to come forth and give. Therefore, I guess it's up to me to give everyone a little kick in the pants. I have a challenge for everyone who reads this, either at DCP or on Goodreads. In fact, there will be a separate Goodreads post presenting the challenge there. I want to get to at least triple figures on the donation to the DAV. To do that, we need to sell enough books and merchandise to achieve at least $65 worth of fundraising. The same percentages apply: 10% of proceeds from book sales (paperback and Kindle) and standard DCP merchandise from Zazzle. 100% of proceeds from Blue Star DCP merchandise from Zazzle. These will go to the Disabled American Veterans. With just book sales, we would need to sell 54 copies of Dinétah Dragon or The Advance Guard in order to reach the goal. With Blue Star merchandise, we'd have to sell either four pendants or nine t-shirts to hit the magic number. So really, it'd be easier to hit the challenge number with merchandise, but I know some folks might not want to shell out that much money. Here's the challenge, then. If you all out there make enough purchases to get us to $100 total funds raised for the Disabled American Veterans, then I will do the following: * Expand electronic versions of my books by putting Dinétah Dragon on Kindle and B&N Nook, as well as The Advance Guard on Nook. * Put up the beginnings of my next Phantom Squadron novel, Guarded Son, up for review on my Goodreads site. * The purchaser who puts us to $100 will get their entire order autographed, as well as receive the promotional goods winners of the Goodreads giveaway received, a signed postcard and an oversize bookmark. (We'll work out the logistics of this when it happens) Get your orders in, and let's show some support for our disabled vets! It was brought to my attention last night (thank you, A.P. Fuchs) that the links to the Kindle edition of The Advance Guard did not work. Rest assured, they work now. Or they at least had better work. You can now click on the Kindle links and they will not take you to a 404 page.
Speaking of Amazon ... a couple little notes regarding Dinétah Dragon to share with you. First off, you can buy copies through several Amazon-affiliated on-line retailers, including Bon Harbor, THE_MEIRIN_USA, and super_star_seller. These folks rely on Amazon for their income, so I have no problem with purchases of the book through their Amazon accounts. Second, as it turns out there's a minor oddity regarding searches for the title, at least via author searches. It seems when you search books using my name, the only DCP book that appears is the print and Kindle editions of The Advance Guard. In order to get Dinétah Dragon, you have to search for Ariel's name ... and it has to be her married name, Sharpe. Funny, huh? I'm getting overruled by a fictional character! (How many other authors can say that with a straight face?) Last week we started our Blue Star Drive for veterans' charities. It remains in effect until Memorial Day: pick up a copy of any of our books (The Advance Guard or Dinétah Dragon), a Kindle edition of The Advance Guard, or any standard item of merchandise from the Zazzle store and 10% of the proceeds would go to a veterans' charity; purchases of Blue Star merchandise (now encompassing a t-shirt and a pendant) would sent 100% of their proceeds to the charity. Of course, here's the thing ... I don't know what charity to send the money to. So I'm going to leave it up to the readership. You, whose hard-earned money will be going toward these products and, through them, to the charity, should be the ones who choose which veterans' charity it is that should benefit from this program. Below is a list of several veteran support charities in a survey. Place your vote there. This list of charities was assembled with only two guidelines: they could not have received an F rating from Military-Money-Matters.com, who assembled a list of vets' charities and rated them based on how much money from donations went to the charities; and they had to support all branches of the military, not just one or two. Place your vote, then make your contribution! You'll be helping a great cause, doing your good deed of the day, and receiving some really cool stuff in return. |
