Jeannie and Ann have put together a heck of a book, taking place in the modern era and steeped in a world of secrets and hidden identities. The back cover copy gives you an idea just how familiar and yet mysterious this world is!
Two women, two identities, one lie.
An innocent charade catapults Clair Matthews and Kelley Malone into mystery and deception.
Rugged cattleman Joe Paul Farrell falls victim to Kelley's elusive charms. Russell Gibson, loyal private investigator, enters a dangerous liaison. Bodyguard Spencer Walker desires the woman he cannot possess.
An ocean away, ruthless Linford Thurlow sets in motion a decades-old plan.
Six people's lives interlace through conflict and romance, but whom, if any, will succumb to a murderous plot of betrayal?
I've read it as I've typeset it, and the book reminds me a lot of Elmore Leonard, especially in the situations and the tightness of the prose, along with Jeannie and Ann's ability to take a commonplace circumstance and amp up its danger factor by 100.
On a related note ... DCP will be making our book fair debut this October, at the Texas Book Festival. The annual event, created by former First Lady Laura Bush in 1995, is held at the Texas capitol building. We'll be sharing a table with fellow ETWA independent press White Bird Publications, but you'll have an opportunity to meet all three of us DCP'ers ... not to mention the wonderful (and lovely) cover artist who did both Scent of Double Deception and An Unlikely Arrangement ... and a chance to pick up signed copies! Come see us October 22nd and 23rd!
Or, if you're in the Marshall area, come see Don A. Martinez and Patty Wiseman at Books and Java on October 21st, where we'll also be doing a book signing. See us there!
